Instructions for Hysteroscopy Procedure

  • Re-confirm the date and time of procedure. Get admitted at least 4 hours prior to the procedure. Please be accompanied by an adult relative or friend.
  • Please bring your fertility clinic file and any relevant test reports that you may be possessing including x-ray, ecg, reports etc.
  • If you have been advised to use any vaginal medications on the morning of the procedure, please do so.
  • As the procedure is done under GA, please keep you stomach completely empty after 10pm previous night.
  • You may experience some vaginal bleeding on the day of the procedure and for 2-3 days thereafter.
  • You may resume normal activities from the day after procedure.

Instructions for Ovum Pick up Procedure (OPU)

  • The procedure is done under anesthesia or intra venous sedation. Hence please keep your stomach completely empty after 10pm previous night to the OPU.
  • Report to the IVF centre at the appointed time. Bring along you entire file including ECG, x ray report etc.
  • It is a good idea to shave / use epilatory creams a day or two before. So that the pubic area is clean. Please do not use powder, perfume, nail polish etc. Also no lipstick or face make-up to be used.
  • You will be completely asleep before the OPU procedure is started. The anesthetist doctor will ensure you stay comfortable and pain free.
  • You may be drowsy for an hour or two after the procedure you may experience some vaginal bleeding and lower abdominal cramps. You can take 1 or 2 tablets of Paracetamol (Crocin or Dolo 650) to ease the discomfort.

Instructions for Embryo Transfer (ET)

  • This procedure (usually) requires no sedation on anesthesia. Hence you can eat or drink something prior to admission.
  • Inform the concerned doctors / embryology staff about your arrival at the hospital. You will be told to drink plenty of water and fill up your urinary bladder prior to the ET. Please do not empty your bladder for 1-2 hours prior to ET.
  • Omit using vaginal medication prior to the ET. Bring along those tablets as well as any injections like Gestone / Susten along with you. They can be administered after the ET.
  • You can leave the hospital about 3-4 hours after the procedure. Kindly do not use 2 or 3 wheeler transport to get back home.
  • Abstain from sexual intercourse for the 2 weeks time after ET.
  • Please report to your doctor’s clinic for the Beta HCG blood test to check for pregnancy 14 days after ET.
